Shared Governance

academic-shared-governance.jpg
Faculty unions do not supplant or usurp the role of faculty senates, faculty councils, or faculty assemblies. UAMD is dedicated to strengthening shared governance through collective bargaining. Too often we raise issues through our shared governance processes, only for the issues to die in committees, or for administrators to erase long-standing policies when they became inconvenient. By forming a strong faculty organization independent of administration, and by using our right to collective bargaining, we can strengthen shared governance and ensure that our input on academic issues is not dismissed.
